Aspire Nautilus 2S Tank Review
Summary: Giving the option for either mouth to lung or direct to lung vaping, the Nautilus 2S is a great option for newer vapers. Adapting to a number of coil resistances with a high-quality construction it's a beautiful little tank.
Most serious vapers will have at least one tank from the Nautilus series by Aspire in their collection. They’ve recently released the Nautilus 2S, a slightly updated and upgraded version of the original 2. Looking at it, you’d think it was the same but there are a few nice little features that give it a more modern twist. But are they enough to make it worth purchasing?
Starting off with the construction, it’s the same modern and sleek looking hourglass shape. The curved drip tip makes for comfortable vaping and of course it still has the standard TPD approved 2ml capacity. The diameter is slightly larger than the 2, sitting at 23mm total so it’s still a very mod-friendly tank and will fit on most without any overhang which is great. The bottom adjustable airflow is always a useful feature, especially with the variable coil options this tank has.
Closing it down gives you that real mouth to lung, cigarette type draw whereas open and with a lower resistance coil it’s a pleasant direct to lung vape. One of the best features of this tank, aside from the new coil options, is the updated top fill mechanism. Rather than totally unscrewing the top cap and taking it off, there’s a very child-safe (and leak proof) design. You twist the top then press to slide open where the little arrow is, reminiscent of the Innokin Scion 2 tank. It’s a lovely little feature and keeps your hands cleaner and means your tank is always kept in one piece.
As for how it vapes, it really depends on how you use it and which coil you choose. One of the biggest benefits of any of the Nautilus tanks is the coil options. The Nautilus 2S now comes with a 0.4 Ohm coil for 23 – 28 watts and a 1.8 Ohm for 10 – 14. The 2S can take any BVC coils from the other Nautilus models too and the best thing about this tank is you can use it for mouth to lung or direct to lung vaping. Combining that with the adjustable air flow and the coil options you can use literally any juice you want, making this one perfect for newer vapers who want a tank that lasts the test of time.
I combined the 1.8 Ohm with a nic salt and a closed down air flow, and a regular 70:30 liquid with the 0.4 Ohm coil and open air flow for direct to lung vaping. Both gave great results. Mouth to lung vaping is smooth and gives a good hit, especially with the 1.8 Ohm coil and the flavour is exceptional partly due to the curved drip tip which enhances your juice. It’s a more mild direct to lung vape, so mightn’t be great for serious sub Ohm vapers but again, if you’re just getting into sub Ohming it’s a great option. The steel and aluminium casing makes it super durable too so it’s forgiving to the odd vape drop too. If you have one of the older model Nautilus tanks or fancy something versatile, comfortable to vape on and incredibly durable, the 2S is a very safe bet.
